Amazon.co.uk Review Carve out a virtual life for yourself as hero or villain in the fantasy world of Fable II, where nothing is pre-determined. Create your own character, male or female, and control them over their whole lifetime. Watch as they grow up and then make the tough moral choices that will affect their abilities and how the world sees them. Some cities are huge, with a complex infrastructure for you to exploit | Acting for good or evil can have a permanent physical effect on your features | Guns are commonplace, but swordfighting is still vitally important | Not all your enemies are human in the world of Fable | Set in the land of Albion 500 years after the first game (such that primitive guns are now in widespread use), you can either seek to rid the land of evil or conquer the realm for yourself. The game features an all new combat system, allowing you to use a range of melee and ranged weapons, while death brings only a loss of experience. But the game need not be about fighting at all if you don’t want it to be. You can buy property and become a mayor, or get married and have children. Many games call themselves role-players, but here the nature of your role is entirely up to you. Key Features - Game of life: Mould your own character and watch them grow into adulthood, their features changing according to the deeds they perform for good or evil.
- Virtual reality: Will you be a charming evil doer or an antisocial hero? The role you play is entirely up to you as you follow the game’s story or ignore it to do your own thing.
- New age of combat: Wield a huge range of weapons, including swords, axes, and newly available muskets. Or master a range of magic spells with up to 80 different varieties available.
- Team up: Invite a friend into your game at any time and play with them in co-operative mode.
- Best friend: Every character gets a chance to own a pet dog, one who will help you to find your way through the game world, attack enemies, or just be a good friend.
About the Developer: Lionhead Studios Headed by industry veteran Peter Molyneux, creator of the famous Populous and Theme Park, Lionhead are one of the UK’s best known developers. They were bought by Microsoft in 2006 and now produce games such as Black & White, The Movies, and Fable only on Xbox 360 and PC.

Perfect for todays standards! December 3, 2008 I don't understand how people can give 1 star to this game. It is fantastic. After reading the negative reviews I hesitated buying it, but I am so glad I bought it. If you liked the first one you will most probably love this game. Just the money making side of the game kept me busy for days. People find the game short or area too small probably they didnt explore it fully. There is so much to explore and many side missions. Graphics are very good overall. It is great fun, in my opinion it is perfect for todays standards.
More than i was expecting December 3, 2008 I have recently compleated this game, and let me tell you this gave me hours of fun and enjoyment. I really felt like i was in the game rasing my own family and whatnot you will find yourself drifting off to expand your empire and gain money quite allot (well at least i did) the game can be quick if all you do is the main quests all day long, but i don't think you will. The online was more than i expected as i didn't think there would be an online,it is fun playing online with your best mate yet the camera for two player is over both of you so sometimes it's hard to controll. Overall a great game 9.5/10 because they could expand the online gameplay but overall EXERLANT.......
Great game December 2, 2008 Having completed this just a few hours ago i thought it would be best to write a review as soon as possible. its a really great game and a lot of fun and i had loads of fun describing all the crap i was doing to my friends. gameplay is strong and addictive and the dog is a brilliant idea. i usually dont like the idea of having to look after things in games, but the dog was just excellent and makes the game more enjoyable. the story is simple but enjoyable. controls are easy to get a hang of. consequences are a large part of everything in the game (for example i had to put my character on a celery diet because i didnt realise eating the wrong things made you fat!). it also makes you suffer the consequences of certain choices such as the ending if u choose something you love instead of the other things to choose from, the characters really make u feel guilty about it.
my only criticism of the game are the spells and powers you get. while they are fun at first, once you upgrade them you have to charge to get to the spells full damage potential which is highly frastrating during combat where you can take a lot of damage during the build up.
apart from that flaw id say 5 stars no doubt. entertaining, exciting, funny. everything you want from a game.
Purchase at your peril December 1, 2008 I should preface my review by saying that this game started out as a hell of a lot of fun and easily one of the best games I have played on the X-box....for the first 8 hours or so anyway, until it kept freezing up and wouldn't let me play. Now it's completely unplayable - it won't even install to my hard drive because the disc is unreadable. I understand that this is a pretty widespread issue and that, furthermore, Lionhead has done absolutely nothing about it. So I'm left with a 40 quid beer coaster. How disappointing. However, I went out and bought Fallout 3 instead, which is a brilliant game and comes thoroughly recommended by me.
