Amazon.co.uk Review There are currently over eight million people playing World of WarCraft worldwide, a staggering number which makes it not only the most popular massively multiplayer online game but also the best selling PC game ever, beating even The Sims. It's easy to imagine then why this expansion has been so keenly awaited by so many people. At first, the additions may seem relatively minor to anyone that hasn't played the game before, but for fans that have been exploring and battling through every inch of the game world for the last two years, the chance to open up a whole new continent is like all your virtual Christmases come at once. The other obvious new addition to the expansion is two new races for you to play as, each inverting the normal abilities and appearances of the opposing Alliance and Horde factions: the Blood Elves are bad guys and the Minotaur-like Draenei are goodies. Importantly all characters using the expansion pack can now rise to level 70 instead of 60, the access this gives to new weapons, armour and dungeons being of great importance to long time players. There's also the prospect of flying animal mounts to get around the newly enlarged world more quickly. Admittedly none of these features, including the new spells, talents and hundreds of new monsters, quests and items makes any real change to the basic gameplay or the now slightly dated looking graphics, but clearly there's a very large number of people who don't believe that needs changing. Well worth getting January 6, 2009 If you like the original WoW then this expansion pack is well worth getting. I loved the original game (actually bought for my son but we both play now) and played it for a good year before getting the Burning Crusade - and the BC does add a completely different flavour to the game - two new races and zones, cities, quests, new lvl 70, - too much to mention - I found my race in the Draenei.
Once you install the game, it integrates seamlessly with the original Wow, all that is different is you have the new zones in the world map and the two new races to pick from. The game play is exactly the same as before - well worth the money.
Seriously addictive June 26, 2008 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
McDonalds of the gaming world, only more addictive. Starts off as fun, but its far less cutsey cash cow nature soon reveals itself.
An excellent addition to WoW March 26, 2008 Let me just start by answering a previous reviewer by saying that the reason the graphics do not rival the likes of Crysis or Bioshock is to make the game accessible to as many players as possible. Not everyone has PCs that are on the cutting edge and so the idea was to have as many players in the world as possible at any given time so as to help each other out.
Anyway, as for the expansion pack it introduces two extra races, an extra profession but more important is the level rise to 70 and the addition of the world of Outland. If you are just starting World of Warcraft buy this too, I did and it makes for a smoother experience as you can choose the extras from the beginning. Outland itself is very involving and the extra missions and characters are a welcome addition. Tonly criticism I'd have is the final boss is perhaps a little too isolated for my liking. I would have enjoyed seeing his influence through the zones, but never mind. That is apparently to be rectified in Wrath of the Lich King due for release later this year.
I would also say that if you are to join this world, ask around work and your friends as someone may already play this game and believe me it is much more fun when you play online with someone you already know
Best game ever January 7, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
World of Warcraft is the best MMORPG game on market from allready 3 years.. NO DOUBT. If you want to be an actor on the TV you watch everyday, if you want to be the hero in the book you read from time to time, well this is the game you should buy, because will fill your free time and will replace your loved tv and best book.
Even if players had bigger expectations for this expansion from Blizzard, is acceptable and good enough.
Required: internet to play and around 9 euros/month.
A QUALITY ADDITION TO THE WARCRAFT UNIVERSE December 29, 2007 World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade is a well-made, entertaining expansion to the original game. Blizzard is known for taking their time with their games, and this one is no different; they announced the release of "Crusade" way back in October 2005, and it wasn't 15 months later, on January 18, 2007 that it was released in stores. Nonetheless, as all of Blizzard's games prove to be, it was well worth the wait.
I have few complaints. Queues, lag, bugs, and server crashes were inevitable when the expansion first came out; that just comes with the package when you buy an Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game. But in my own experience, there actually weren't too many of these technical problems. This may be because my main server, Nathrezim, have always proved to be a good one.
Some people say that the Burning Crusade is like a big patch. I suppose so, but don't count on downloading a patch consisting of new races, zones, instances, items, professions, mounts, cities, monsters, and NPCs very quickly. All this was well worth a trip to the store and the $40 it cost me.
I could go into detail about every little thing that was added, but my bottom line is, which, I am sure you have already gathered, is that Burning Crusade is a great addition to the WoW legacy.
