Bring it on January 5, 2009 I love playing this game especially with someone else it is scary as hell and damn good fun. The cinematics are awesome and actually draw you in until you find yourself planning your assualt as if you were actually in the game and shouting "BRING IT ON" as the zombies swarm at you. Best watch out for the howling witch she really doesnt like it when you get too close or point a flashlight at her. Watch out for car alarms this will alert a zombie "running" horde to your position!!! I havent played this online yet but I can only imagine the experience will be double.
Nothing New January 5, 2009 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this game thinking it would be really good as they would have taken Half-Life and built on it however I was disappointed to find out it was the same game with a slightly different setting. I don't usually say this but I would recommend not buying this one.
Coming soon to memory lane! January 4, 2009 Just buy this game, quiet clearly a lot of time and effort has been put into this game and it really shows. Co op and two player really brings this game to life, my only thought was it was a shame you cant have 4 player from one console.
I'm sure this will stay with many gamers the same way Goldeneye on the N64 certainly has -Get your mates round have a blast with Left for dead!
YAY! I'm the TANK!!! January 3, 2009 This is quite simply the most addictive game ever! I do like my horror films and gory stories, and this game just brings it all to life! Playing co-op is quite simply the best fun, screaming abuse at the hordes of zombies and hunters and smokers as you duck and dart around for that perfect headshot is just delicious. Buy this game...but a word of warning,Can you hear crying? then watch out for the witch.....oh yeah, and don't let no bugger nick your health pack, you'll need it!
Disappointed January 1, 2009 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
Another disappointed player with Left 4 Dead. Throughout the game I can't shake the feeling that this is a bolt on mod for HL2, fun for a while yet I'm surprised that they are commanding premium money for this title.
I'm going to be honest and critical here by saying that graphically this game is comparatively ugly and visually lacking in most (but not all) places. The textures and buildings look quite simplistic, almost rushed or lazy. The weapons are limited and quite unimaginative. I also feel in play that I am skating around on an ice rink - as such, the 'feel' of the movement is dated and they need to look at how other modern titles have managed to get this right.
I think what disappointed me most was the level upon which it lacks creativity on the part of the developers. They just don't seem to have put much thought into truly epic memorable scenarios. Although it's fun for a while, really just throwing tens of zombies at you in various locations isn't going to cut it for me with the quality of production going into modern titles. An excellent example is the 'Japanese'' Resident Evil 5 demo... a co-op zombie game with superb production that really is thinking of scenarios 'out of the box'. I won't spoil it for you but I will say that you are definitely in for a real treat - that is *exactly* how it should be done. If you can, go play it with a friend and then see what you think...
If it seems like I'm being harsh it's because this is currently positioned as a 'premium' title. The content just isn't there to compete with the kind of level of games it is costed against and as such does not represent the sort of value for money that you can find elsewhere. The gameplay content lasts about 4-5 hours (then you rinse and repeat).
GoW2 is my tip for a fun and lasting co-op experience (campaign and horde). Otherwise wait for this to appear in the bargain bin or rent before you buy as it may well be gathering dust before long.
Happy New Year one and all.
