Siomoply brilliant as a social and Family game January 2, 2009 a word of advise, in my opinion this is not a game to paly alone or to think it is the solution to avoid the gym. this is intended to be a FAMILY trainer. this does not train only the physic, it trains the coopetition within your family. the game has 2 very distintt multi player modes, cooperation and competition. the cooperation is great to bond with kids of all ages. the competition is a great drinking game :)
i got this game for christmas as a present, we were not convinced about it at all... until we gave it a go colectivelly. i have 2 kid, 1 aged 3 years old and another one 5 years old. I had my mom and my sister over for christmas and we spent countless hours playing the game. but you need to play it as a group. even my mother who is absolutelly adverse to computer games, had a go and loved it. My eldest son admited that this was the best christmas present he got, and we gave him everything he asked for...
for new year we had a couple of friends arround and this game was the main feature of the night. whilst the kid were still awake, all the frineds and theyr kids played the game together, either in team mode or compeating, we had mothers vs mothers, family teams, kids againt parents.. was great fun. after the kids went to bed we stating the drinking game... well it did not end well, to many forfits, and what people complain that the games are short, i tell you that is a disaster for drinking games. the tequila really sufered! no need to say that we had a great time and lots of people staing over not being in good condition to drive.
i can understand how people who play it on their own can get disapointed. i dont believe this is a replacement or direct competition to the wii fit, this is THE SOCIAL GAME that makes the wii so successful. if you are a gamer or a billy no mates, forget this game. if you are not into playing games on your own or your prefer socilizing, entertain and family get togethers to interacting with a TV and console, this is the game for you!
excellent best christmas pressie ever!!! December 31, 2008 my mum bought this for the kids, and it is money well worth it!!! definatley more fun for the kids than the wii fit! i love this game!!!every one does!!!
great fun December 30, 2008 got this game for the kids for xmas and have all had great fun playing since, think it is suitable for all ages as there are graphics to explain what to do as well as word instuctions. my only gripe is although its called family trainer, the multi player is for two players only - we still play as a family just take it in turns. there seems to be lots of different ways to play - we have only just found the personal fitness part where you can do workouts for different parts of the body (one for me in the new year !) overall a great game which gives the whole family a work out - without the kids even realising!
Fabulous December 30, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have both Wii Fit and now Family Trainer - I am surprised as the family trainer gets you far more active than wii fit does. The exercises are simple and fun - especially if there is a group of you as you can all laugh at each others expense.
Very funny, very active, I would definitely recommend this game for light hearted fun and exercise.
The only problem is on the multi player mode, the game mat isn't always big enough for two adults - my family found that when 2 adults were on it they bumped into each other whilst competing.
Otherwise, a fab game!
Great for kids, parties, drunken nights in and a bit of exercise! December 27, 2008 Its a good laugh, but does require a few people to enjoy it. I can't take it seriously as a long term solution to exercise, but with family and friends of all ages its great. Had a competition on boxing day. Just wish you didn't have to return to the main menu to switch users. Would be better if you could just select another person to play the same game so competion would flow a bit better.
The only time I had the mat slip was when I forgot to take off my footwear (as mentioned in the instructions). Otherwise using bare or socked feet it never slipped once.
For the price, I seriously hope they bring out some low price games that are compatible with this to extend its life.
Last comment, it is a bit small. I have fairly big feet (size 12) and found myself hitting multiple buttons!!
