Guitar Hero: Aerosmith is an interacting music video game published by Activision. The game was released on PS3, PS2, Xbox 360 and Wii. The game is another welcome addition to the popular Guitar Hero franchise. It is the first game to focus primarily on the one band, with Aerosmith songs contributing to nearly 70% of the soundtrack, and the remaining 30% from bands that played with Aerosmith. Alot of the songs are master recordings, including four Aerosmith songs that were specially re-recorded for this game.
The storyline will see you follow the career of Aerosmith, playing many top hits. The story follows a historic timeline of the band from its very first show at Mendon Nipmuc Regional High School in 1970 to the Super Bowl XXXV halftime show in 2001. As players progress through the story they will be taken to real-world-inspired venues along with interviews from band members about their past.
Gameplay in Guitar Hero: Aerosmith is similar to that found in previous titles such as Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. You will use the guitar controller to produce various guitar notes in order to complete a song. Practice makes perfect, but newcomers beware, your performance is tracked by a Rock Meter, which if falls to low will end the song playing prematurely. You will be rewarded with Star Power if you hit regular correct note combinations. Players are given a rating after they have successfully completed a song and can access various detailed statistics related to their performance.
The graphics are decent for a game of this genre and provide players with well presented videos and gameplay.
Gamers who enjoyed playing previous titles of the game, or who simply have a passion for music will certainly want to buy this. Players who appreciate the music of Aerosmith will undoubtedly like this game.
