Fight Night Round 3 is a boxing game published by Electronic Arts and is the latest title of this boxing series with some new features and improved graphics. Some of the new features are impact punches, new career mode and the first person boxing mode which is only available on Playstation 3.
Total Punch Control mechanic is back in the game and you will move your boxer with left analog stick and will throw punches with right stick. It might take you some good time to master the punches as you need to use different combinations to attack differently and to cause more damage. Sixaxis motion control can be used to give illegal blows and this is available only on Playstation 3 version.
Attack is the best policy but sometime you need to defend yourself and for this purpose you can use R1 button to block punches and hence, to protect yourself. You use the stick to decide the part which you want to protect and you need to keep a close eye on your opponent in order to predict his action and hence, to protect yourself. Once you protect a punch successfully, you can quickly launch a series of counterpunches to cause damage to your opponent. You can also lean in order to avoid the punches and you can also lean on your opponent to regain the lost energy after you have taken a beating.
You can also hire a trainer in the game in order to improve the performance. In order to maintain the health, you need to go through the training and you always have the option to train your boxer before a fight. Training also include some minigames which consist of heavy bag, weights and these minigames are pretty simple and you wont face any difficulty in completing the training in order to improve your boxer’s performance. You can also play minigames between the rounds to reduce the swelling else your boxer wont be able to see the incoming punches because of swelling and so, you wont be able to protect yourself.
You can also create a new boxer in the game and you are allowed to assign different boxing styles to your boxer by setting a base style, punch style and block style. You can also make your boxer light on his feet so as to make him fast in the ring. There are loads of combinations to choose from and you can keep modifying your boxer’s fighting style until you feel you found the right style.
Also, you can play the game in different modes and some of them include career mode, classic mode and more. At the end, Round 3 is good game with nice collection of moves and good graphics and the game won’t disappoint you if you enjoyed the previous titles of the series
