Condemned 2: Bloodshot released on April the 11th 2008 by Sega Europe is quite possibly the ugliest and most gruesome game you’re lightly to encounter on Playstation 3. This first person horror action game is back and set in a similar scary, dark, gloomy and decayed world found in the first game. The first game was notable for its excellent use of grim environments combined with, on-the-edge-of-your-seat game play.Another thing that both titles have in common is the blood-spurting visuals, shouted epithets, and the slimy sounds of entrails splattering onto floors and walls. If you played the game’s grisly predecessor, the gore shouldn’t come as any surprise. The story picks up a year later, with Ethan as a complete raging drunk who is asked to help finish up a loose end from the previous game. Ethan is asked to assist the Serial Crime Unit to help investigate the cause behind Metro City’s unstoppable crime wave. The game will take you through 11 exciting missions, as you progress through these missions, Ethan will gradually unlock the secrets of an obscure conspiracy.

Ouch!

The general anxiety is further enhanced by the excellent use of sound and gritty visuals, you can taste the dust, and feel the pain inside Metro City, its one gruesome and rundown place. Sound effects are superb, one moment it’s all quite, then suddenly there is a creaking sound, giving you an eerie feel, putting you in a mode of suspicion wondering what that noise could be in that creepy back alley. There are more weapons to choose from in Bloodshot than the previous game. You will find many weapons scattered around the city, for example, you might come across bowling pins, found inside the run down bowling alley. Swingable objects such as, base ball bats and rods are likely to be found in lonely back alleys which can be used to bludgeon enemies with. Other weapons you will come across are, saws, deer antlers, medieval swords, paper cutter blades, bowling pins, locker doors, shot guns and revolvers.Instead of a straightforward attack, you can pull off jabs, hooks, uppercuts, and combos now. You can also build up for a chain attack, which is a special move that triggers a quick-time event that, upon succession, allows you to do things like crack skulls or snap arms. Finally, when the enemy is down, you can pull off environmental kills, such as drowning someone in a toilet or cracking his neck against a doorframe (yikes!). There are still a host of weapons, ranging from the "standard" (pipes, rebar) to the mighty (shotguns, .44 revolvers) to the bizarre (foosball rod, pool balls). The only downside to the new, more in-depth combat system is the garish combo meter that excitedly announces the combo attacks you perform.

He looks scary.

The forensics are improved in that there's an actual element of thinking, unlike the  first game. Using stuff like UV lamps, cameras, and spectrometers, Ethan will often encounter a crime scene and use reasoning to figure out what happened. You can still progress even when you get stuff wrong (mistaking an entry wound for an exit wound), but making the correct deductions will help you earn better upgrades (such as taser batteries, brass knuckles, and shoulder holster) at the end of every mission. There's one pretty cool puzzle where you have to quickly describe a detonator (via the forensics system) to figure out how to defuse it.Multiplayer mode is really disappointing. There are only two multiplayer modes, Bum Rush mode and Crime Scene mode. Bum Rush mode is where two cops try to survive against six bums, it often ends up been one sided – the bums usually win. Crime Scene mode is where a team of cops search the level for evidence that the team of bums is hiding, this is the better and most exciting mode out of the two.Although there are a couple of setbacks in Condemned 2, such as the disappointing multiplayer mode, Bloodshot is a much improved game in so many different ways, making it a must have for any gore-action-shooter lover.
