PS3 Home is an upcoming service from Sony that has been in development since 2005 for PS3. The service is currently in its later stages of beta testing and is due for release this August. The application will be downloadable to your Playstation 3 hard drive and will be 500MB in size.
Home will allow you to set-up and develop an online world inside a thriving gaming community. Games such as Devil May Cry 4 have been released with hundreds of embedded achievements which on Home’s release will be converted into trophies, furniture and clothing for your own specific part of Home and avatar.
Discover a huge 3D cyber world where you can meet friends, play free arcade games, watch trailers and discover many exciting things. There will be over 2 million customizations available for you to customise your character – making everyone in the world of Home unique. Loads of items will be purchasable or unlock able to place inside your Home apartment, you will be able to invite guests and friends inside your apartment. Interacting with items inside your apartment and friends will be a huge part of Home, play your favourite mp3s on your stereo, for all your friends to hear, or upload a video on to your TV for everyone to watch!
Sony’s new service will be totally free to download, although extra content will come at a price. It might be possible for you to trade items for some kind of Sony currency – similar to Microsoft’s Xbox Live credits.
